Data types & records
Set up your own lists — events, products, team members — and show them anywhere on your site as cards or overviews.
With data types you set up your own lists in Obelisk: events, products, team members, vacancies, recipes — or, like on this site, knowledge articles. A data type describes which fields every item has; the items themselves are called records. This way you manage structured content in one place and display it anywhere on your site, in whatever shape you want.
Custom fields per list
For each data type you choose the fields yourself: short text, long formatted text, images, dates, numbers, dropdowns, yes/no toggles and even repeatable groups (for example a small list of FAQs per product). Required fields and minimum or maximum lengths are enforced, so records are always complete.
Display anywhere, always up to date
You display records with the Records block: as cards, a table or a list, filtered and sorted the way you want. Add or edit a record and every page that shows the list is updated instantly. With dynamic pages every record also automatically gets its own web address with its own detail page — the detail page you are reading right now is itself a record. And on a multilingual site records exist per language, linked as each other's translation.
Example
These three cards are live records from this site's 'knowledge article' data type:
Themes with semantic tokens
Set your site's colours and typefaces once — every page, button and card adapts automatically.
SEO & structured data
Every page gets its own Google title and description, and blocks like the FAQ automatically send structured data along.
Multilingual without duplicate content
Offer your site in multiple languages, with a dedicated menu and footer per language and an automatic language button.
The prompt for this example
Show the three newest knowledge articles as cards with a title and summary.
